Without exaggeration, Mary has taught Hawaiian quilting to over 15,000 people in the 35 years she has been quilting and teaching. Nothing pleases Mary more than to share her gift with people willing to learn. She had Sharon Balai design the nine quilt blocks, and selected red and white as the colors that represent her inner self, and wants to share this quilt with everyone. Mary hand appliqued, and hand embriodered this quilt in a chicken feet pattern. Mary says the chicken feet embroidery was traditionally used by quilters whose failing eyesight would not allow them to do the fine applique work.
